Acetaminophen for Injection 100 mg IV Bags, 10/Case (RX)
Acetaminophen Injection is a sterile, clear, colorless to faint yellow, non- pyrogenic, preservative free, isotonic formulation containing 1,000 mg of acetaminophen in 100 mL (10 mg/mL) in single-dose bags.
Instructions on How To Use Acetaminophen for Injection IV Bags
1. Check the packaging for the expiry date before using.
2. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before use.
3. Attach the IV bag to the administration set following the directions that are included in the package.
4. Prepare the injection by slowly drawing 10 mL of Acetaminophen for Injection 100 mg IV Bag contents into a syringe.
5. Connect the syringe to the administration set and carefully inject the contents of the syringe into the IV.
6. Discard the syringe and empty IV bag following local waste regulation.
7. Monitor the patient and observe for any adverse reactions.
8. Document the patient’s medication administration.
9. Store the remaining Acetaminophen for Injection 100 mg IV Bag as directed.
10. Dispose of any additional unused products in accordance with local waste regulations.
For adult and adolescent patients weighing greater than or equal to 50 kg requiring 1,000 mg doses of Acetaminophen Injection, administer by intravenous infusion. Acetaminophen Injection may be administered without further dilution. Examine the bag contents before dose preparation or administering. DO NOT USE if particulate matter or discoloration is observed. Check for minute leaks by firmly squeezing the bag. If leaks are detected, discard the solution, as sterility may be impaired. Keep the infusion bags in the overwrap until ready to use. Administer the contents of the bag intravenously over 15 minutes. Use aseptic technique when preparing Acetaminophen Injection for intravenous infusion. Do not add other medications to the Acetaminophen Injection bag or infusion device.
