BD 365978 Microtainer Tubes with Clot Activator/SST Gel and Microgard Closure is a clot activator that helps to form a clot in the tube and stop the bleeding. The SST gel helps to keep the blood cells together and the Microgard closure helps to keep the tube sealed. Microtainer Blood Collection Tubes are used for the collection, storing and transportation of capillary blood specimens. They are intednded to ensure quality blood sample collection, promoting ease of use and maximum convenince. Microtainer tubes are designed to collect and preserve blood specimens for later analysis. The tubes are made of plastic and have a small opening on one end that is sealed with a rubber stopper. A needle is inserted through the stopper to draw blood from the patient. The blood is then collected in the tube and the stopper is replaced to seal the tube. The tubes are then placed in a special container called a centrifuge, which spins them around at high speed. This causes the blood to separate into layers. The upper layer, which is made up of plasma, is drawn off and stored for later analysis. The lower layer, which is made up of red blood cells, is discarded.
