Instructions on How to Administer Kenalog 40 for Injection 10 mL
- Wash your hands with soap and water.
- Assemble a clean needle and syringe.
- Remove Kenalog 40 from the refrigerator and let it warm up to room temperature before using for about 30 minutes.
- Check the vial to make sure it has no cracks, flakes, or other defects.
- Clean the top of the vial with an alcohol swab.
- Draw the prescribed amount of Kenalog 40 into the syringe.
- Remove air bubbles from the syringe using the plunger.
- Disinfect the injection site with an alcohol swab.
- Insert the needle into the skin at a 90-degree angle.
- Empty the contents of the syringe slowly and steadily.
- Remove the needle from the injection site and cover with a cotton wool pad.
- Place the used needles and syringe into a sharp container.
- Cover the injection site with a bandage if desired.
- Dispose of the container in an appropriate medical waste receptacle.
