Famotidine for Intravenous Injection is also used to prevent and treat stress ulcers and to reduce the risk of Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding (UGIB) in patients who are receiving critical care.
Famotidine is a histamine-2 blocker that decreases stomach acid. It is used to treat and prevent heartburn and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Famotidine is also used to treat and prevent ulcers in the stomach and intestines. It is also used to treat conditions that cause too much stomach acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
