Sincalide for Injection 5mcg/mcg is an FDA-approved synthetic version of cholecystokinin, a naturally-occurring gastrointestinal hormone known for its role in digestion and absorption. The medication is indicated for use as a gastrointestinal checkpoint – prior to performing such bariatric and diagnostic gastrointestinal procedures such as ERCP, MRCP and cholangiography. By administering either 1µg/kg of the synthetic cholecystokinin or 5µg/kg, the user is able to stimulate imaging of pancreatic and biliary ducts which can be used to help diagnose symptoms such as jaundice or biliary obstruction.
